Maria Sharapova vs. Shuai Peng-BNP Paribas Open match

Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova has been in great form in this tournament and will play Chinese talent, Shuai Peng in the Quarter finals of the BNP Paribas Open being held at Indian Wells. Both players are ranked outside the top ten in the tournament.

Sharapova has been showing good improvement in this tournament as she has eliminating opponents like playing cards. Aravene Rezai and former number one Dinara Safina were on her elimination list that she beat in straight sets before making it to the quarterfinals. She is currently seeded at number 16 in this tournament.

Shuai Peng has been doing great this year with quarter final and semifinal performances at almost all tournaments which include Hobart, Auckland and Pattaya. She is continuing the same flow in this tournament too as she eliminated Na Li and Nadia Petrova on her way to the quarter finals. She is unseeded in this tournament.

Both the players have met two times before and the head-to-head stands at 1-1. The last time they met was this year at Rome where Peer won in three tricky sets. Sharapova has one of the best strokes in the women’s game and punch those bullet forehands whenever needed. Peng on the other has a very strong defensive play and possesses powerful footwork. Sharapova should be able to get the win in three sets.
